Post Brexit customs frustrations? If you have ideas on improving importing and exporting, put them to the government
Yesterday HMRC launched an initiative to help them shape the long term future of customs. They are asking traders for evidence of how the customs systems are working and what improvements are needed.
The Government press release includes the laudable aim for the UK to have the world’s most effective border by 2025. Those of us who have had to deal with the realities of post-Brexit customs might raise an eyebrow at this. However, it’s good to see that they are aiming high and asking for our input on how to achieve the target.
The Call for Evidence is particularly interested in your views on:
- Customs intermediaries;
- Simplified customs declaration process (SCDP)
- Transit facilitation
This is our chance to affect policy on customs and IES will certainly be contributing our analysis. Add your views by clicking on the Call for Evidence button above.
